Sculpting Animals: Endangered Species In Their Natural Habitats

Instructor: Crystal Morey

Mondays, 6:30-9:30 pm

5 weeks starting January 23^rd

(no class February 20^th)

$190 / $130 UCB Students

In this class we will sculpt endangered animals in their natural habitats. We will learn simple step-by-step techniques to make animals with color, character, and a realistic feel. We will also create beautiful and telling landscapes with trees, mountains, icebergs, rivers, oceans and much more. Come with your clay tools, an inquisitive mind and be ready to have fun.

Fun New Project!

I am working on a series of little sculptures to be cast in silver and made into necklaces that bring good luck! Here is the first one!

This beautiful tooth necklace is not only good luck but it is magical! Hand made in Oakland California by artist Crystal Morey, this necklace is solid sterling silver with a sterling silver chain. The tooth is hand fabricated and cast in silver and then the tip is dipped in 24K yellow gold. This creates a beautiful contrast of silver and gold that goes with anything and compliments everything!

John Casey Collaboration

Wonderful artist and friend, John Casey, will be having a show at Swarm Gallery this October. He had the great idea of collaborating with fellow artists to make a series of drawings that all started with hands and pants he had drawn. This is where I ended up!

I can’t wait to see all of the final works!

10/1/11 – 11/6/11: Tall Tales: Collaborative projects by John Casey & Friends

John will be showing a project of collaborative works with 30+ artists titled “Hands & Pants.” The exhibition will also feature a collaborative project with Mary Kalin-Casey titled “Call & Response,” which will feature a limited edition companion book for sale.

Openings Saturday, October 1st, 6-9pm.

I spent my childhood wandering through the woods, swimming in the river, and making forts. Nature is what I know and what I love. Now that I live in urban, Oakland California, I am acutely aware of natural living things in contrast to asphalt, cement buildings and discarded items. I am inspired by this contrast. I am interested in the natural processes of life and death in contrast to civilization needing to change and control our environment.
